Use of Applets in GeoGebra in the teaching of mathematics for university architecture students during the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract
Introduction. GeoGebra is a free software that has many possibilities to be used in the teaching of mathematics at the university; In addition, with the use of Applets designed by the teacher in GeoGebra, students can observe mobile graphics and interact in an interactive way. Objective. This research seeks to describe the effect of the use of GeoGebra Applets on student participation during the mathematics learning process. Materials and methods. The research is quantitative of a descriptive type, which included a sample of 122 students from the Calculus for Architecture course at a Peruvian university in Lima in the 2021-1, to whom a satisfaction test was applied at the end of the cycle. Results: 85% of the students showed high satisfaction, and 90% indicated that it allowed them to actively participate in the classes; furthermore, 88% stated that they understand better the topics seen in class with the help of the Applets. Conclusions. The development of GeoGebra Applets serves as tools for university students of the architecture career to consolidate the themes and increase their participation. It is proposed more studies be conducted focusing on student performance.
